Reading Shelf Lectern Combination

2022-02-27 | Reading time: 4 minutes

One of the more complicated construction projects. But hey, it turned out pretty well (for someone who cannot cut in straight lines): a reading shelf lectern combination.

Home Office Desk

2022-02-19 | Reading time: 2 minutes

Given that home office goes on, I did invest and build some desk equipment.

Mind the cable you use for backups

2021-12-26 | Reading time: 1 minute

Not sure whether I have identified the problem correctly, but it would make sense — and explain how a backup can take 20 hours longer than it needs to take.

Digital Bullet Journal 2022

2021-12-26 | Reading time: 2 minutes

Not a fan of pen and paper bullet journals, but the digital version worked very well in 2021, and the new version hopefully will in 2022.

Pop Music without Lyrics to down out annoying distractions

2021-12-15 | Reading time: Less than a minute

Hmm, it's not only epic music on YouTube that allows you to listen to something while working.

Removing auditory distractions

2021-12-02 | Reading time: 1 minute

Working at home — stupid regulations — I am once again remembered of a really useful invention: earplugs.

Creating quick teleprompter slides (mirrored slides or text)

2021-11-05 | Reading time: 2 minutes

Yeah, finally, after all those Corona-tainted fucked-up postings, one posting with a clear use case. Yeah. If only how to quickly use a Keynote presentation to build a teleprompter-like display.

Presentation about Technology as Tool or Trap (in German)

2021-10-11 | Reading time: 1 minute

I recently did a presentation on whether technology is a tool or a trap. It covers Attention Economy, Gamification, Persuasive Technology, Nudging, and Dark Patterns. Unfortunately it's in German, but perhaps it's interesting as well.

Establishing a working infrastructure/meetings/etc vs Entropy

2021-09-19 | Reading time: 2 minutes

Why do so many attempts to improve organization fail? In part because continuous energy is needed.

Image from a cartoon about better not teaching children about entropy.

Downloading YouTube Videos (August 2021 Update)

2021-08-03 | Reading time: 1 minute

Hmmm, I thought the YouTube Download Site y2mate.com was broken (got an out of business message), so I look for a working way to download YouTube Videos. Seems it works, but given that I found another way, here it is.

No Ads, No Sponsored Placements

A comment for those seeking to use this site for personal gain: Given the increase in requests, let me be clear. I write on this blog because I want to. It’s my hobby, my playground. Sometimes people point me to interesting products/services and I write about them. But any request regarding ads or sponsored placements ends up the trash without a reply. And if you think something would be of interest, differentiate yourself from the spammers by referring to a posting — in an intelligent way. (I get enough auto-generated mails to identify them immediately.)

BTW, posts can get updated after I published them if I spot spelling errors (not a native speaker) or think a different wording might improve precision and clarity.

Filter Blog Entries & Categories

This blog is not focused on a single topic, or method. As long as it is relevant to improving creativity (or allowing it in the first place), it's fair game. The heterogeneity of the postings can make reading this blog a bit cumbersome, at least if you are only interested in one topic. You can either use the search function (above), or use the categories or the tags to narrow down the postings you see.
