«What do you do if you die before finishing the full B5 [sci-fi series] storyline?»
«Well …decompose, mainly ….»
Viewer and JMS, the creator of Babylon 5
Currently there is a lot of development regarding AI-created movies. While people create their own movies or create better endings for bad movies, I wonder whether there isn’t a huge potential for updating the Special Effects of older movies.
Some very good movies and series — in acting and storytelling — have really distracting special effects. For example, many drive scenes in 80s series where the background movement has no relation to the actual driving.
AI could update all the movies with really bad special effects, including CGI. And it can make a seamless update that makes them watchable again.
For example, «Babylon 5» has great storylines, but the CGI has not aged that well which AI could update easily.

A pretty good non-AI example of what is possible is the replacement of characters in Star Trek DS9’s «Trials and Tribble-ations». The DS9 characters were inserted into an old Star Trek TOS episode.

Just imagine something like that for old series — leaving the storylines and acting intact, just updating the older elements.
Might be worth a trial.
