Seeing an Artist Draw

Why should I paint dead fish, onions and beer glasses? Girls are so much prettier.

When I stumbled upon videos of Bob Ross, I was amazed how simple it seemed — and how hard it was to do it yourself. But that was before the digital age.

Today, you can see artists draw digitally — how they create their artworks from … well, blank sheets of paper. Just digital ones.

One of these artists is Ku Kuru Yo, known for his GamerGate Life comics. And an artist who drew two amazing pictures for me (Vivian James as adult scientist and a version of myself). He puts a few videos of himself drawing online, as well as doing live-streams when he is drawing.

For example this one (NSFW, well, if nude drawings are a problem):

Personally, I find it amazing. But that’s perhaps because I can’t draw. But still, impressive.

That’s one of the nice things about the world we’re living in (the not so nice things, see here; but also see this presentation to get cheered up again). But yeah, the Internet allows us to see artists at work. And consequently, it allows us to see how artists developed over time (different artist, but interesting as well).

So, just … amazing.

Oh, and BTW, he is really good. Seriously. If you want a drawing of yourself, e.g., for Twitter or another online profile, contact him. Loved working with him. 🙂
