Recommendation: Georgia Tech Welcome Speech

The quality of a university is measured more by the kind of student it turns out than the kind it takes in.
Robert J. Kibbee

Open Culture has pointed me to this welcome speech (watch it until the end) — I couldn’t help but smile. Yup, it’s cheesy at times, but with enough self-irony and (honest) advice that it works — not to mention the incredible amount of motivation that is transferred. I also can’t help to cynically ask what happens when the motivation boost runs out and the day-to-day work begins, but damn, it’s something.

Highly recommended.
