Neil Oliver did a good video about the current Covid hypocrisy, essentially, well, explicitly saying ‘Hey Government, we are not stupid’. While the assertion always makes me think “Well, if you are not stupid, why do you have to proclaim it?” his words are well chosen (although I get a definitive Braveheart vibe). But I totally agree, especially about the laws not necessarily being moral.

Highly recommended.

 

Oh, and one other comment — the point about the Nudge Units/Behavioral Insights Teams from around 3:48 onwards is really interesting. If you want to influence people, and they notice it, it backfires. In a really bad way.

And other thing … that “abusive relationship with the government” … yeah, there was this great meme (source unknown, sorry):
