Good-bye, Gaming Mouse for Everyday Work

2015-03-19

My beloved gaming mouse is dying after about 6 years of really comfortable and productive work ... a shout-out to a highly under-appreciated tool.

Differences in Discussions

2015-03-14

When people disagree it can be due to a lot of reasons. But besides the actual arguments, there are different levels of differences that are highly relevant. And if not recognized and addressed will make any discussion less than it otherwise could be.

Eulogy from a bathtub: R.I.P. Sir Terry Pratchett

2015-03-12

An eulogy on a great writer -- and yup, from my bathtub (just needed that bath today).

Recommendation: Free Speech On Campus

2015-03-12

Recommendation of an interesting video about free speech. Well thought out rant that is worth listening too -- and thinking about.

A Comment on Two Abusive and Unethical Experiments (Milgram & Stanford Prison Experiments)

2015-03-10

In a recent discussion someone mentioned the Milgram Experiment and the Stanford Prison Experiment as "abusive in the worst way". I wrote a comment that I think is worth preserving -- on how both experiments were actually very important and not as abusive and unethical as many people think.

Providing interesting perspectives in popular fiction

2015-03-08

Even in otherwise rather predictable fiction you can provide some interesting perspectives. Here for example in a teeny vampire novel (nope, not Twilight).

Semi-Modern Personalized Letter Writing

2015-02-27

There's something to be said for letters -- the physical kind. Whether it's as nice gesture, for love letters, or simply to put a note with something you send, they do have their uses. Here's a nice template for a Fern Letterfold -- a letter which does not require an envelope.

No Ads, No Sponsored Placements

A comment for those seeking to use this site for personal gain: Given the increase in requests, let me be clear. I write on this blog because I want to. It’s my hobby, my playground. Sometimes people point me to interesting products/services and I write about them. But any request regarding ads or sponsored placements ends up the trash without a reply. And if you think something would be of interest, differentiate yourself from the spammers by referring to a posting — in an intelligent way. (I get enough auto-generated mails to identify them immediately.)

BTW, posts can get updated after I published them if I spot spelling errors (not a native speaker) or think a different wording might improve precision and clarity.

Filter Blog Entries & Categories

This blog is not focused on a single topic, or method. As long as it is relevant to improving creativity (or allowing it in the first place), it's fair game.
Some postings on this blog deal with freedom, as I think that we need freedom of thought, of speech, of association, etc. pp. to solve mankind's problems. Thus, some postings may seem a bit remote when it comes to organizing creativity. Freedom is, however, the bedrock of creativity.
The heterogeneity of the postings can make reading this blog a bit cumbersome, at least if you are only interested in one topic. You can either use the search function (above), or use the categories or the tags to narrow down the postings you see.
