Question: Does anyone know whether the TV series “Mission Top Secret” is available on DVD or digital download?

“They don’t have movies where you come from, do they?”
“We had something similar a few hundred years ago, but they lost their appeal when people discovered their real lives were more interesting.”
“Still, it’s nice to take a break from your life now and then, don’t you think?”
Crewman Cutler and Dr. Phlox in “Enterprise”

A (very) long time ago I watched a series called “Mission Top Secret” on TV. I remember a few elements, some that seemed like sci-fi in the 1990s but might be possible today. I like to revisit that series and I wonder, is that series available somewhere — as DVDs or digital download?

If you know anything about that series I’d be grateful for a comment.

Best regards

Daniel

  1. Can’t believe someone else remembers this show! Was absolutely obsessed as a kid. Sadly, it’s next to impossible to find any episodes that haven’t been dubbed into German or French – this is the only one I’ve ever come across. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KuJg6XnproM Would dearly love for it to become available on DVD.

  2. Hoi Tris,

thank you for the link. 🙂

Perhaps the rest of the episodes will appear on YouTube as well. I’m not sure whether I still like it as an adult, but they did have a technological/communication infrastructure that impressed me. Sci-Fi during that time, but I wonder how much of it is possible today thanks to the Internet. That’s the nice thing about art that envisions technology before it becomes commonplace — they have a unique view on the potentials and pitfalls. I wonder how this series and its visions looks like from my current perspective …

  3. Oh, hey, I didn’t know there was a novelization either … thank you. 🙂

  4. It might be as simple as finding out who has the rights to the “Mission: Top Secret” series and asking them to sell box sets to your region code. Or, if someone were to buy the DVD rights for North America, this person would make a killing.

  5. Hmmm … if someone feels inspired, I’d likely buy the DVDs. If only to see how much of what was once SciFi is now reality (video conferencing with tiny laptops from anywhere in the world, for example).

  6. Seems that in Germany, they released the first season DVD in 2016 (German and English audio)! Can be found on Amazon.co.uk. Sadly, no Season 2 so far…
